Persistence and determination.

My son Nick set a personal best time in solving a Rubiks Cube.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Serial Winner by Larry Weidel

My son Nick demonstrated the application of persistence and determination over the past two years. You don’t simply learn how to solve a Rubiks Cube and then two weeks later hang a 13 second time on the board.

You learn how to solve a Rubiks Cube. Then you learn new ways to solve a Rubiks Cube. Then another, and another. You practice, for several hours a day, month after month, year after year.

Solving the cube is no longer a challenge for Nick. It’s about speed. It’s about recognizing the moves it will take to solve the puzzle, before he even begins.

Most of all, it’s about persistence and determination.

It didn’t take him 13 seconds to solve the cube, it took him two years to solve it.
